Household Waste Recycling Centres

Our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are for North Ayrshire’s residents to dispose of household waste.

Due to the Covid-19 situation, our four Household Waste Recycling Centres are currently closed. We will re-open them on a phased basis throughout June.

Arrangements in place during Covid-19 restrictions

Please do not go to any of our sites if you, or anyone in your household, has symptoms of Covid-19, or is 'shielding' because of an underlying health condition.

There will be significant changes as to how our recycling centres operate to ensure we can manage demand, resources, physical distancing measures and keep customers and staff safe.

You must bring proof of residency within North Ayrshire with you, otherwise we will be unable to allow you to enter the site.

This can be one of the following:

  • a driving licence
  • a Council Tax bill
  • a utility bill

These identification documents must be displayed and clearly visible on the car dashboard.

Please refer to the relevant section below to find out the arrangements in place for your nearest HWRC.

Please note the following:

  • Long queues are expected initially, so please only visit during the first few days if you absolutely have to. We expect that demand may reach capacity at times, which may mean we ask you to return at another time.
  • If queuing outside the sites, please do not sit with your engine idling to protect the environment and others from vehicle emissions.
  • No vans or trailers will be permitted on sites until demand eases. We have temporarily suspended our Tip Permit Scheme.
  • Don't bring items that are too big or heavy to handle yourself, as our site attendants will be unable to help you unload your car and dispose of your waste
  • No pedestrian access is allowed to HWRC sites
