Report fly tipping including fly posting

Our teams remove litter, illegally dumped waste and antisocial debris from public areas. We don't remove waste from private land or gardens.

What is fly tipping?

Fly tipping is illegal dumping of waste on land or in water. The waste is usually dumped to avoid disposal costs.

What is fly posting?

Fly posting usually involves posters, stickers or signs that are put up without the permission of the property owner. It is a criminal offence.

Fixed penalties

Working alongside Community Police Officers, we carry out regular patrols throughout North Ayrshire. These officers can issue fixed penalty fines.

The penalty fine for fly tipping is £500.

The penalty fine for fly posting is £80.

The penalty fine for dog fouling is £80.

Pay a fixed penalty

Failure to remove waste after a fixed penalty has been issued may result in an additional charge for removal and disposal costs.

Failure to pay a fixed penalty can result in action by Sheriff Officers or the Procurator Fiscal. If you are prosecuted, you may face a jail term and £40,000 fine. Vehicles used to carry out the crime can be seized and destroyed.
