Included in your Council Tax bill is the charges for:

  • your water supply services
  • your waste water collection services

which are both provided by Scottish Water.

Scotland’s water is vital to our everyday lives, and Scottish Water handles caring for it.

Public owned Scottish Water invests every penny into protecting the nation's resource. It is your water, for your life as it is owned by the Scottish public.

The charges you pay allow Scottish Water to operate and improve:

  • water and waste water services
  • infrastructure in communities across Scotland

These charges apply to every household which has a connection to the public water supply and/or the public waste water network.

These charges are based on your Council Tax Band shown on your bill, even if you receive a Council Tax Reduction. Some Council Tax exemptions and discounts will also apply. This includes single occupancy or if you are a student.

For more details about these charges visit the Scottish Water website.

The Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board (independent of North Ayrshire Council) decides which Band your home falls into. The Band determines how much Council Tax you pay.
