Housing associations

A housing association is an independent 'not for profit' organisation that provides affordable rented housing.

North Ayrshire Housing Register (NAHR)

North Ayrshire Housing Register is a common housing register comprising:

  • North Ayrshire Council
  • Cunninghame Housing Association
  • Irvine Housing Association
  • ANCHO

The NAHR is a shared housing register, meaning people don't need to fill in a form for each landlord.

Together, the 4 landlords own and manage around 98% of the social housing in North Ayrshire. 'Social housing' is the term used to refer to affordable rented housing provided by councils and housing associations.

Non NAHR housing associations

The non-NAHR associations, listed below, have their own housing registers. They let half their empty houses to applicants on their own register and half to applicants on the NAHR. You can apply directly to them.
