Freegal Music is a FREE music service for library members which offers 24 hours a day of ad-free streaming.

The catalogue includes over 16 million songs, millions of albums, hundreds of  playlists, and the ability to create your own playlists.  In total, the collection is comprised of music from 40,000+ labels with music that originates in 100+ countries.  

You can download your music as well!  A free app is available for both IOS and Android devices in the App Store and Google Play.

What will you need?

  • internet access
  • your library card number

Use the last 8 characters of your North Ayrshire Council library card number

  • or you can use your NEC number if you have full library membership

School pupils should see their Learning Community Librarian in school to join up.

Create an account and download music - please type in Scotland when prompted for zip code, city or country and then select North Ayrshire Libraries.

This service will work on most computers, players, tablets or smartphones. 


Borrowbox is FREE to library members. Download audiobooks and listen anytime, anywhere!

You can borrow up to 4 books at a time, for up to 3 weeks.

How to borrow eAudiobooks

  1. Visit BorrowBox and log in using your library card/National Entitlement Card (NEC) number and PIN or download the BorrowBox app (for IOS and Android). Please note: if you are using your NEC to log in, miss out the last two digits of your card number.
  2. Search by title, author, or category.
  3. Read, or listen to excerpts. New titles are added regularly.
  4. Confirm your choice, or reserve and we'll email you when the title is available.
  5. Download the complete eAudiobook, and enjoy.
