Ardrossan marina

This Ayrshire Growth Deal funded marina project consists of an extension to the existing marina development, which will sit adjacent to the proposed development at Ardrossan North Shore. It will be located in the Montgomery Basin which formerly served the shipbuilding industry.

The marina will be formed by the construction of two offshore rock armour breakwaters and the basin dredged to allow the passage of boats. It is currently proposed that the marina will provide berthing facilities for up to 150 boats through the addition of floating pontoons and other infrastructure. This will address the demand for additional marina berthing facilities on the Clyde, will provide operational/maintenance facilities and employment at Ardrossan, and will increase traffic to transit marinas on the Clyde estuary and wider west coast.

The marina will be a key element in the wider Ardrossan Harbour and north shore regeneration and by creating an attractive coastal setting will complement the planned school campus, marine education facility, commercial area and housing development which is planned for this location.

Alongside Ayrshire Growth Deal funding of £5.5M, funding of £800,000 was secured from North Ayrshire Ventures Trust in November 2021.

What's happening and what's in the pipeline

A design team to develop detailed designs for the marina was appointed in spring 2022. Alongside this, work continues to secure the remaining funding required for the project, alongside securing the necessary consents. This is currently under review due to current market conditions.

Heads of terms were signed with Clyde Marina in March 2022.
