Future Housing Developments

North Ayrshire is committed to continuous improvement of our local areas. The following developments are due to be completed between Autumn 2024 and Summer 2027.

Three Towns (including Arran) development plans 

James Reid, Saltcoats

Number of homes: 47
Start: Winter 2024
Completion: Summer 2025

North Ayrshire Council is planning to redevelop the former James Reid School and Focus Centre, Saltcoats. The proposed new 47-unit development will provide a mixture of two, three and four bedroom general needs, wheelchair accessible and amenity homes.

James McFarlane, Ardrossan

Number of homes: 19
Start: Winter 2024
Completion: Winter 2025

North Ayrshire Council is planning to redevelop the former James McFarlane Primary School site. The proposed new 19-unit development will provide a mixture of two, three and four bedroom general needs, wheelchair liveable and amenity homes.

Irvine and Kilwinning development plans

Corsehillhead, Kilwinning

Number of homes: 7
Start: Winter 2024
Completion: Winter 2025

This development will deliver a mix of general needs housing and amenity bungalows.

Kings Arms, Irvine

Number of homes: 6
Start: Autumn 2023
Completion: Autumn 2024

North Ayrshire Council is planning to redevelop the former Kings Arms Hotel and Public House. The proposed new development will comprise six amenity flats providing one and two bedroom accessible homes in the heart of Irvine Town Centre.

Stanecastle, Irvine

Number of homes: 31
Start: Winter 2024
Completion: Spring 2025

North Ayrshire Council is planning to redevelop the former Stanecastle Primary School. The proposed new 31-unit (29 home) development will provide a mixture of two-to-five-bedroom general needs, wheelchair accessible and amenity homes.

Ayrshire Central, Irvine

Number of homes: 202 (200 new build and 2 gate house refurbishments)
Start: Winter 2024
Completion: Winter 2027

This project will see the redevelopment of the former Ayrshire Central, Irvine site and see some much needed affordable housing brought to the Irvine area. This flagship site will be the largest single new build housing development that North Ayrshire Council has ever delivered. The site will provide a mixture of two-to-four-bedroom general needs, wheelchair accessible and amenity homes.

Montgomerie Park, Irvine

Start: Summer 2024
Completion: Summer 2027

This development will deliver a mix of one to five bedroom general needs, wheelchair liveable and amenity homes.

Bourtreehill Village, Irvine

Number of homes: 32
Start: Spring 2024
Completion: Spring 2027

Part of the Bourtreehill Regeneration Project, delivering a mix of one to three bedroom general needs, wheelchair liveable, and amenity homes.

Fullarton Street, Irvine

Number of homes: 62
Start: Summer 2024
Completion: Winter 2026

Providing a mix of general needs, wheelchair liveable, and amenity homes on the site of the demolished high flats.

Garnock Valley developments

Garnock Academy, Kilbirnie

Start: Autumn 2023
Completion: Spring 2025

This project will deliver a mix of general needs housing, wheelchair liveable properties and amenity bungalows on the site of the former Garnock Academy.

Laburnum Avenue, Beith and Newhouse Drive, Kilbirnie

Number of homes: 14 (7 units on each site)
Start: Winter 2024
Completion: Summer 2024
