Council Tax change of bank details letter
A letter was included with the 2026 to 2027 Council Tax annual bill to advise that North Ayrshire Council changed their banking provider in September 2025, and requested customers update the bank details for future payments. We would like to confirm that if you pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit, you do not need to take any action in relation to this, and your Council Tax will continue to be collected as normal. Your Council Tax payment method is confirmed at the bottom of your annual bill.
Bank details
On 1 September 2025, North Ayrshire Council changed banking provider to Royal Bank of Scotland. All payments to the Council should now be made to Royal Bank of Scotland and new bank details for each service can be found on the Pay Council Tax and Pay rent pages.
Please note, our old bank account will be closed imminently and any payments made to our old bank details may not be received and your account will remain unpaid.
Customers who have been identified as having made a payment electronically from 1 September 2025 to Council Tax, Housing Rent, Business Rates or Sundry Debtors, will receive a letter to confirm the new bank details, and ask that they update any future payments made.
If you are uncertain of the changes or receive any suspicious emails or communications in relation to the change of bank accounts, please contact our Customer Services team on 01294 310000 or our Finance team via email at cashiers@north-ayrshire.gov.uk to confirm the payee details to be used.
