Work continues on B781 landslip repairs

Work is continuing on repairing a landslip which has required a temporary closure of the B781 road.

Motorists and commuters are advised that ongoing repair works are now expected to be finished in January.

Heavy rain in recent weeks has led to a landslip next to the road which connects West Kilbride to the B780 and on to Dalry.

Further heavy rainfall has caused a delay to the timescale of the project meaning that repair works will be ongoing into the new year.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but the safety of residents is our top priority.”

Due to the nature of the works, there will be no vehicular or pedestrian access through the site for the duration of the works. Access will only be available for works traffic and local residents living in nearby properties.

Drivers are asked to observe the diversions which will be in place. The diversion route is along the A78 south from West Kilbride to Ardrossan. At the Chapel Hill Roundabout, take the B780 north to the junction with the B781 near Munnoch reservoir.
