A plan view of new housing in Irvine showing homes

Residents and interested parties are being invited to view and discuss proposals for a significant new council housing development.

A total of 188 new council homes are planned for Montgomerie Park in Irvine.

This will be one of North Ayrshire Council’s largest housing developments to date - alongside the 202 new homes currently being constructed at the site of the former maternity unit at Ayrshire Central Hospital in Irvine.

The £50million development, which is anticipated to be supported by a £25m Scottish Government grant, will see a mix of general needs houses, amenity bungalows and homes suitable for wheelchair users.

Members of the public are invited to a drop-in final plans consultation event on Thursday, August 28, at Lanfine Community Centre, Girdle Toll, KA11 1BH, from 4pm to 6pm.

The event will allow interested people to obtain information about the project and view the final site plans and house designs.

To book your place at the event, email the team or phone 01294 324031.

Quote: In North Ayrshire, we have one of the most ambitious house-building programmes in the country and are already more than halfway towards our target of building more than 1,600 new homes across North Ayrshire. The 188 new homes at Montgomerie Park will be one of the Council’s largest housing developments to date. We are investing around £50m into developing these modern, energy-efficient homes at Montgomerie Park, supported by an anticipated £25m in grant funding from the Scottish Government to transform the site into what will become a comfortable, vibrant and welcoming community. This is a huge commitment and demonstrates our ambitions to provide our residents with the types of homes they need, in places where they want to live.

Work is currently scheduled to get under way in spring/summer 2026, with completion expected in spring/summer 2029.

Please note: The plans for the new homes at the Montgomerie Park site are also available to view online here.
