Three island projects get funding boost

Three island community groups have received Scottish Government funding worth a total of £85,000.
Two organisations on Cumbrae and one on Arran have received funding to deliver projects that support the ambitions of the National Islands Plan.
Here in North Ayrshire, the successful projects are:
- Garrison House, Isle of Cumbrae - £30,000
- Kildonan Hall, Isle of Arran - £25,000 and
- The Cumbrae Youth Forum Premises Project, Isle of Cumbrae - £30,000.
Quote: This funding announcement is great news for our three islands projects, and the allocation will make a big difference to each of them as they develop their plans. There is some fantastic community work being done across Arran and Cumbrae, and I welcome this support for the groups that were successful in securing financial backing from the Scottish Government.

Sixteen initiatives across 12 Scottish islands are sharing funding worth £800,000 in support of the National Islands Plan ambitions. Each of the community-led projects will help to safeguard island economies and address depopulation.
Cabinet Secretary for Islands Mairi Gougeon said: “We have worked closely with the local authorities, the Scottish Futures Trust and community groups to identify projects which support the needs and aspirations of our valued island communities.
“Scotland’s islands are home to vibrant communities, and the Scottish Government is dedicated to championing local priorities and securing a sustainable future for these communities.
“This collaborative approach builds resilient economies that not only thrive today but generate income to reinvest locally for years to come.”
