Storm Eowyn latest– road closures in North Ayrshire

Read weather warning graphic

North Ayrshire Council would like to alert residents to a series of road closures that have been caused by Storm Eowyn.

This morning, the region has been battered by winds in excess of 100mph. Council staff have been attending a high volume of emergency situations, mainly due to fallen trees.

The A78 is closed at Skelmorlie due to flooding and the B706 Beith Road, Barrmill, is closed as trees are hitting the power line - SP Energy Networks have been in attendance. Other closures, due to fallen trees, include:

  • Irvine: Bowhouse Rise, Caprington Foot, the junction at Annandale Way, The Paddock in Perceton and McKinlay Crescent.
  • Dreghorn - Corsehill Mount roundabout
  • Stevenston - Reids Ave and Greenhead Holdings,
  • Kilwinning - Eglinton Park Farm and
  • West Kilbride - Hunterston Road, near to the 20mph sign

Please note: Conditions remain dangerous and a Met Office red weather warning is in place until 5pm today, meaning there is a risk of flying debris, power cuts and damage to buildings. We advise residents to stay safe and stay at home.
