Storm Eowyn clean-up continues for Council teams

Trees being cleared up in the aftermath of storm Eowyn

North Ayrshire Council staff are continuing their effort to get life back to business as usual in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn.

The storm had a significant impact, bringing gusts of around 100mph to the North Ayrshire coast when it hit last month.

Storm debris and fallen trees were cleared by the council’s roads team in the immediate aftermath to help keep travel routes clear.

Teams from different services continue to work through a significant number of incidents on a priority basis. Issues are being tackled on a risk-based approach, with safety – as ever - being paramount.

Quote: Teams are currently working to remove fallen trees and remove dangerous branches from trees. Roadside trees are also being inspected to help reduce the risk of future issues, and work is also ongoing to repair storm damage to council properties. We kindly ask residents to please bear with us as we work through the recovery from the storm. We appreciate your patience. I would like to thank all council staff for their endeavours. And I extend my thanks to volunteers who have helped out, particularly at Eglinton Country Park in Kilwinning where there has been a high volume of damage to footpaths and trails, making them unsafe for visitors.
