Reading challenge where everyone can win prizes

Young library reader with library card in front of bookcase and prizes in library

North Ayrshire Libraries is encouraging children, young people and adults to take part in the Make Your Mark Summer Reading Challenge.

Taking place across all of our libraries, the challenge is all about encouraging the enjoyment of reading and promoting the benefits of becoming a North Ayrshire library member. It’s easy to sign up for at your nearest branch – find your local library online.

There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part!

If you want to get involved, it’s easy. Simply sign up to become a library member at your nearest branch, receive your Make Your Mark card, then collect stamps for joining the library, borrowing books, attending an event or visiting another library.

The collector’s card has space for 12x stamps and there are goodies such as bubbles, trolley coins, pens, pencils, yoyos, puzzles and more to collect as you take part. There is no limit to the number of cards you can complete. The more books you read, the more likely you are to be one of our Star Readers. If you become a Star Reader you could win a book token at the end of the challenge.

The initiative also runs alongside the Bookbug Summer Reading Challenge delivered through libraries to encourage pre-school children to read throughout the year. Speak to library staff who can recommend popular titles to help boost reading skills and increase confidence in young readers ahead of the new school term.

Quote: The Make Your Mark Challenge and the prizes to be won are just one of several benefits to becoming a North Ayrshire library member. Our libraries are a place to come together, be inspired and connect with your community and being a member with us will allow you to access other services too like accessing PC’s, printing, photocopying, books, e-books, magazines, newspapers and more, so why not drop along to be part of the action?
