Pupils can use study spaces in their local library

Do you need somewhere to study? Are you struggling to concentrate with the temptation of scrolling on your phone or other distractions at home? Well, North Ayrshire Libraries have got you covered!

With exam season now in full swing, pupils and students are being encouraged to take up the offer of using free ‘Study Spaces’ in North Ayrshire Libraries. From group study spaces perfect for collaboration and individual study desks for concentration, all libraries across North Ayrshire have free WIFI and safe and comfortable spaces designed for quiet study.

The study spaces are available on a first come, first served, on a drop-in basis.

Although you don’t need to be a library member to use the study spaces, membership will bring other benefits such as accessing PCs, printing, photocopying, books, e-books, magazines, newspapers and more…

To become a library member, sign up online now - all libraries also have friendly, knowledgeable staff on hand for anyone needing support with finding books, study materials or online resources. Find your nearest library and opening times here.

Head of Service for Connected Communities, Rhonda Leith, is encouraging young people to take advantage of the dedicated study spaces across our libraries. She said: “Studying in a library is recommended as it provides free access to resources like books and computers in a structured setting, free from distractions.

Quote: First established last year, the study spaces provide the perfect alternative study space as many North Ayrshire pupils are now on study leave. So, if you are looking for a change of scenery to break up your study routine and provide a reset if you are feeling stressed, why not drop in to your local library? “In addition to library study spaces, please remember that support is available if you are struggling with studying and exams. You are not alone.

Rhonda added: "Speak to your teacher, a trusted adult or a member of library staff if you need to talk and if you are a parent or carer supporting someone though the stressful exam period, check out the Parent Club website for helpful tips, advice and information. Good luck to pupils studying and all the best to you all when you sit your exams.”
