Provost Anthea Dickson's Christmas Message

It has been another enjoyable and hugely rewarding year in my role as North Ayrshire Provost. It is an honour and privilege to meet so many remarkable people, one which continues to leave me humbled daily.
The wider community of civic North Ayrshire is indeed rich, made up of such a wide variety groups, organisations, individuals and young people. They have invited me to events throughout the year and given me an insight into the work they do with such passion and commitment, to enrich the lives of others.
Christmas is a time when we reflect and for me, it has been both encouraging and uplifting to see the warmth and kindness displayed by so many in our community.
While the festive period will be a joyous time for most of us, unfortunately, some of us will be unable to spend time with loved ones or friends. Some may feel lonely or isolated, perhaps due to illness, therefore it is important we remember to look out for each other especially our elderly and vulnerable neighbours. Everyone’s situation is different and even the smallest act of kindness can sometimes make the biggest impact.
I hope that 2025 has been a good one for you all and you will look forward with optimism as we head into 2026.
I would like to thank all the North Ayrshire Council and NA Health & Social Care staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the year – many of whom will be working over the festive period. For those needing help over the festive period, we are still contactable on 01294 310000 and staff will be happy to help.
Finally, one last thought. Christmas is a special time for all of us, but more so for our children who bring the magic alive. This year I will be donating to the Cash for Kids charity and would ask if you are able to, no matter how small, please donate at the Cash for Kids website
