Plenty on for over-50s this summer

Generic pic of four over 50s walking

If you are over 50 and looking to get involved in new activities in Irvine, a specially-prepared guide has been established just for you.

North Ayrshire Council’s Irvine locality team has been working closely with local groups to establish exactly what is happening in the town over the coming weeks.

And now a new webpage, listing all the activities – from Community bingo, tennis to seated zumba - has been created to document every club and session that is taking place across Irvine.

It caters for a range of ages, interests and is essentially a one-stop shop for the over-50s who are keen to branch out, find fun things to do and make new friends along the way.

Quote: This guide is absolutely fantastic and a really useful place for over 50s to use and store so they know exactly what is happening in Irvine. The locality team have done a great job in using their vast array of contacts to pull it all together so nothing is missed out. There is so much going on across Irvine – most of us probably don’t know what is happening in our communities. But these groups are always really inclusive and welcoming so I’d urge anyone who sees something that looks appealing to go along and try it out.”

Quote from: Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Communities, Housing and Islands

As well as the details of groups and sessions taking place, it lists various clubs and organisations and also lists potential volunteering opportunities.

Check out the details on our Community Planning Partnership website.
