Notices of Election are published

The countdown to the Scottish Parliamentary Elections is officially under way following the publication of the Notices of Election, and nomination packs for prospective candidates are available.
Prospective candidates for the Cunninghame South and Cunninghame North constituencies can download the nomination pack from the Council’s website or obtain a copy from the Election Office, either in person, by emailing the office or phoning the team.
Anyone wishing to submit a nomination should make an appointment with the Election Office.
For candidates standing on the West Scotland Regional List, nomination packs should be obtained from the Regional Returning Officer at Renfrewshire Council and information is available online here.
Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, May 7, to elect 129 members to the Scottish Parliament. Nominations for candidates are now open and close on Wednesday 1 April. Nominations can only be taken between 10am and 4pm.
Other key election dates are:
- residents have until midnight on Monday 20 April 2026 to register in time to vote in the election. To ensure you are registered to vote, visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote before this deadline
- you can apply for a Postal Vote online here and the deadline is 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026 and
- to apply for a Proxy Vote, visit this web page before the deadline on 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026 and
- voters who are already registered will start to receive their polling cards from Friday 20 March 2026.
