New study spaces set up across North Ayrshire libraries

Do you need somewhere to study? Are you struggling to concentrate with the temptation of scrolling on your phone or other distractions at home? Well, North Ayrshire Libraries have got you covered.

With exam season now in full swing, pupils and students are being encouraged to take up the offer of using free ‘Study Spaces’ in North Ayrshire Libraries.

From group study spaces perfect for collaboration and individual study desks for concentration, all libraries across North Ayrshire have free WIFI and safe and comfortable spaces designed for quiet study.

The study spaces are first come, first served, on a drop-in basis.

Although you don’t need to be a library member to use the study spaces, membership will bring other benefits such as accessing PCs, printing, photocopying, books, e-books, magazines, newspapers and more…

Quote: Developed earlier this year, the dedicated study spaces have been funded by Scottish Library and Information Council through the Scottish Government’s Public Library Improvement Fund. The new study spaces are perfectly timed with many pupils now on study leave, so why not give them a try?

To become a library member, sign up online now! All libraries also have friendly, knowledgeable staff on hand for anyone needing support with finding books, study materials or online resources.

Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Communities and Islands, has welcomed the introduction of the dedicated study spaces across our libraries.

He said: “Studying in a library is recommended as it provides free access to resources like books and computers in a structured setting, free from distractions. So, if you are looking for a change of scenery to break up your study routine and provide a reset if you are feeling stressed, why not drop in to your local library?

“In addition to library study spaces, please remember that support is available if you are struggling with studying and exams. You are not alone.

“Speak to your teacher, a trusted adult or a member of library staff if you need to talk and if you are a parent or carer supporting someone though the stressful exam period, check out the Parent Club website below for helpful tips, advice and information. Good luck to pupils studying and all the best to you all when you sit your exams.”

Visit the Parent Club Scotland website for further information on how to cope with exam stress.
