Investigation work to get under way at Irvine playpark

Play park with chute, see-saw, climbing frame and swings, surrounded by a metal fence

Parents and carers are advised that the Golffields playpark in Irvine will remain temporarily closed while investigations are carried out into subsidence in a small section of the facility.

Work is scheduled to get under way in the week commencing Monday, 11 August, to find the cause of the issue.

As a short-term measure, the equipment has been removed from the park and the area fenced off.

This will allow the affected area to be properly excavated by specialist contractors ahead of any remediation works which may be required.

Quote: The wellbeing of our young people is paramount so it’s important we establish why a small section of the park has been affected by what appears to be subsidence. It is our intention to reinstate the play facility when we are certain the issue has been resolved and there is no risk to visitors. In the meantime, I would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding.”
