Have your say on alcohol licensing in North Ayrshire

Local people are being invited to shape the future of alcohol licensing in North Ayrshire.

The North Ayrshire Licensing Forum – an independent advisory group that plays an important role in reviewing how alcohol licensing and decision making – is looking for new members.

It exists so that local views are reflected in licensing policies and decision making and the Council is currently seeking new members from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Applications are welcomed from local residents, licence holders, community safety partners, young people, and representatives from health, education and social work sectors.

The Forum brings together people with a shared interest in supporting safe, vibrant and responsible communities. Members have the opportunity to discuss how licensing works in North Ayrshire, represent the interests of their communities or organisations, and contribute to discussions on issues affecting local areas.

As part of the role, Forum members are invited to share their views on licensing matters, help promote the five licensing objectives, and review policies developed by the Licensing Board. This helps ensure local licensing arrangements continue to meet the needs of communities throughout North Ayrshire.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: "The Forum is a hugely important that gives local people, from various backgrounds, an opportunity to have their voices heard on matters that affect communities across the region.

"We are keen to welcome new members who can bring different perspectives, experiences and ideas to the Forum. Whether you are a resident, involved in a local organisation or work in a sector linked to licensing, this is a valuable opportunity to contribute to local decision making and help shape future policy."

Membership involves attending a small number of meetings each year and working alongside other residents, licence holders, health and education representatives, community safety partners and Police Scotland.
