Gold star report for Springside Primary

Staff and pupils at Springside Primary celebrate their inspection report

An Irvine school has received high praise from Education Scotland after a recent detailed inspection of the establishment.

Springside Primary came under the spotlight after a visit last year – and received a glowing report which can now be viewed online.

In the report, the head teacher and senior management staff were praised for their strong leadership, including consistently driving improvements across the whole school.

It also highlights that ‘a strength of the staff team is their significant work towards improving how they meet children’s needs across the school’. Staff also develop trust and strong relationships with all the pupils

Pupils are described as being happy and that they feel safe and secure. Staff are praised for nurturing relationships and understanding the needs of those pupils who need additional support.

In terms of the curriculum, the inspectors highlighted that ‘all teachers provide children with clear instructions and explanations during learning, often linking learning appropriately to prior learning or real-life contexts’

As well as internally, the report praises the strong relationships that exist with parents/carers, and says most are very supportive of the work of the school.

In the four quality indicators – Leadership of Change; Learning, teaching and assessment; Ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion; Raising attainment and achievement - that Education Scotland use to mark establishments, Springside was ‘very good’ or ‘good’ in all of them.

Quote: This is a fantastic report and a huge amount of credit must go the head teacher and all the staff for creating such a positive environment for the pupils. Primary schooling is such a key stage in any young person’s development and it’s so important that we get this right to set them on the right path. It is clear that the pupils are really thriving at Springside and we are sure the school, and the young people, will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Springside Head Teacher Lynsey Boyes added: “We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of our recent inspection which recognises the dedication, effort and commitment of our entire school community.

“While we celebrate this achievement, we remain committed to the continuous improvement of the school and early years and providing the very best education for our children and young people.”
