Duo shine in stunning exhibition at HAC

Artists Wendy Greig and Jody Kelly

A new exhibition supported by North Ayrshire Council’s Arts and Culture Team has been unveiled at the Harbour Arts Centre (HAC).

The doors opened earlier this month and the Portraits and Perspective exhibition – featuring the works of Wendy Greig and Jody Kelly - runs until 26 April

Wendy is a Glasgow-born multi award-winning artist living in Ayr. She paints predominantly with soft pastels and is passionate about portraiture. Wendy is self-taught and a long-time member of the Troon art club where she gains additional skills and inspiration. Having retired as a nurse from the NHS, she has always enjoyed being around people and hearing their stories. This has translated into her portraiture, where her work focuses on photo realistic detail, capturing the essence of her subjects.

Jody Kelly, born in 1973, is a self-taught artist from Ayrshire. With a background in illustration and digital design, Jody has been painting seriously since 2010 working on acrylic in figurative and portrait work that portrays a strong narrative thread.

His approach is to create multiple image composition and overlay on a single canvas similar to collage. When taken out of context and displayed as a piece of art, the imagery portrays snap shots from life that capture an unusual moment in time that is surreal, but not unreal. Jody has exhibited in Ayrshire, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Liverpool and has created commercial murals in Troon and Glasgow.

Quote: The Harbour Arts Centre is proud to welcome these talented artists to our flagship arts and culture venue. Both have a really special way of capturing moments and people and this exhibition is a fantastic showcase for their work. The location is also accessible and family-friendly with parking nearby and adjacent toilets and café. Come along to be inspired and appreciate the artistic talent making their mark here in North Ayrshire. Works on display are also available for purchase.”
