Council seek chair for Three Towns Neighbourhood Board

North Ayrshire Council is looking for an innovative and ambitious person to become the chair of the soon-to-be formed Three Towns Neighbourhood Board.
Last year, the UK Government confirmed that Stevenston Hayocks, Stevenston Ardeer (partial), Stevenston North West, Saltcoats Central and Ardrossan Central were the communities that would be supported with targeted funding under the recently announced Pride in Place Programme.
Across Great Britain, 284 communities, will each receive up to £20m to precisely target areas which can benefit most from funding being made available for a wide range of regeneration projects.
A Neighbourhood Board must be formed to deliver the programme – with the Board Chair to be selected in conjunction with the local MP at this first stage.
It means that North Ayrshire Council is now seeking expressions of interest for role of chair.
The chair’s primary role is to be a champion for The Three Towns and to embody the community-led spirit of the programme. The chair should have a deep connection to their area and a commitment to seeing change through and improving the lives of those in their community. The role cannot be filled by an elected representative – councillor, MSP or MP.
Quote: This is a hugely important role and a real opportunity for someone to make a lasting difference to the community they love. We want to make the places we live and work as attractive as possible – and also to meet the priorities of our local people. We look forward to welcoming applications for the new Chair and working closely with them and the Board over the coming months. Whether it is improving our high streets and town centres, preserving local heritage, providing housing, creating jobs, boosting productivity and skills, improving health and well-being, creating new transport links and providing education and opportunity, we will endeavour to deliver for our communities.”
