Community Chit Chat sessions for Three Towns

Community Chit Chat sessions January poster for Three Towns residents

Residents and community groups across the Three Towns are invited to join the Three Towns Locality team for a series of informal “Chit Chats” this January.

Part of North Ayrshire’s Community Planning Partnership, the Three Towns Locality team are an integral part of the council’s wider Connected Communities service.

Responsible for empowering communities and driving changes at a locality level, the team are running the friendly Chit Chat drop-in sessions as an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts, hear about great things happening locally and learn about exciting funding opportunities coming to the area.

Chat Chit sessions are taking place across the Three Towns as follows:

  • Wednesday 14 January – Ardrossan Civic Centre, 7pm to 9pm
  • Wednesday 21 January – Argyle Community Centre in Saltcoats, 7pm to 9pm
  • Wednesday 28 January – Hayocks Community Centre in Stevenston 7pm to 9pm

So why come along?

Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Communities, Housing and Islands explains: “The Chit Chats are your chance to have a chat with us about what a good job means to you and your community. Part of our wider Shaping North Ayrshire awareness-raising campaign, the sessions are an opportunity to discover projects already making a difference in your area and find out about new funding opportunities and what they could mean for local groups and residents near you.”

Discussion points at the meetings will include:

  • Fair wages: ensuring all jobs in the community pay a healthy standard of living. A living wage helps reduce financial stress, which is a major cause of poor health.
  • Job security: promoting steady, reliable employment options. Worrying about losing your job or having inconsistent hours makes people sick.
  • Good working conditions: advocating for safe workplaces where employees are respected and have control over their work-life balance.
  • Opportunities for all: supporting skills for work, confidence building, training, and education initiatives that help everyone - regardless of background - to find good work and maximise their potential.

Quote: The upcoming Chit Chat sessions are a brilliant example of how our Community Planning Partnership is working directly with residents to improve lives and neighbourhoods. The Three Towns Locality team are keen to hear from you so that they can work together with communities to reduce inequalities and drive impactful change throughout the Three Towns. So, save the dates of your nearest session and come along, because your voice matters to us! These sessions are all about listening, sharing ideas and shaping communities together.
