Cash boost for Irvine Tennis Club
A local tennis club are ready to serve up more of the sport after receiving a huge funding boost.
Irvine Tennis Club will receive £30,000 over three years from North Ayrshire Ventures Trust (NAVT) to fund the provision of free community tennis coaching.
This will support 10 hours of coaching per week, targeted at a range of age groups.
The funding will be used to pay a qualified tennis coach, enabling all sessions to be offered free of charge to the public. All necessary equipment will be provided through existing resources.
It’s been an incredible journey for the club since Judy Murray MBE opened their new-look tennis courts in Thornhouse Avenue in 2023.
The group received £10,000 from NAVT in 2024 to pay for coaching, equipment and to increase participation of the sport.
It is hoped that the latest support from NAVT will increase club membership from 70 to 200 within three years, engage up to 500 school-aged children through school and community partnerships and support up to 30 volunteers to achieve their Level 1 coaching qualification.
