Arran housing survey attracts hundreds of responses

Arran Housing Taskforce has thanked everyone who shared their views as part of the ongoing effort to help shape housing provision on the island.

A survey was held seeking opinions on the current housing provision on the island as well as future aspirations.

Following the closing date, more than 600 responses were received including more than 450 submitted by islanders – meaning one in five households on the island had their say.

The survey was open to home owners and tenants, landlords, second home owners, business owners and anyone living and working on the island – and even those considering moving to Arran.

Quote: The results of the survey will help give us a true reflection of housing demand on Arran. In turn, this should help determine what housing is required on the island in the years ahead and where. It’s vitally important that we have a full and clear picture of the current and future housing needs. Housing one of the most pressing issues for the people of Arran and this is an important step towards addressing that. On behalf of the Arran Housing Taskforce I want to thank everyone who has participated in the survey. The results will be invaluable in helping us to map out our next steps.”

Quote from: Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Communities and Islands and chair of the housing taskforce

The survey results will now be analysed and a report produced in the near future.

North Ayrshire Council established the Housing Taskforce in 2023, involving a wide range of partners, to assess the demand for affordable housing on Arran and identify issues that may be limiting economic sustainability and growth.
