Ardrossan Campus work expected to start in near future

Work on the new Ardrossan Community Campus will start imminently after elected members agreed to proposals put forward at a meeting yesterday (Wednesday 25 June).

The report agreed at a meeting of Full Council outlined the progress being made and that remediation and enabling works are now close to completion.

These works have been key to bringing the derelict site into use.

The Ardrossan Campus is a vital component of the wider Ardrossan Coastal Quarter regeneration programme and elected members were provided with details of the ambitious plans for the site.

As well as the state-of-the-art school campus - which will include secondary and primary schools, public library and swimming pool – the vision for the wider site also includes the provision of new housing and commercial uses. This transformational redevelopment brings significant investment into a former vacant and derelict site within one of North Ayrshire’s most deprived communities.

Officers also outlined the current financial position and set out the additional funding that is required as a result of market conditions in the construction industry to enable delivery of the project in accordance with current project timelines. This was agreed by Councillors at the meeting.

Quote: Now we have agreed on this report, we can now look forward to work starting on the Ardrossan Community Campus. It is a huge project for the community and a future generation of young people and their families. We outlined the financial position in the report and the challenges that we have faced due to the volatile market conditions we are operating in. It is now important that we focus on the task ahead and we are delighted that we will soon be starting construction work. We will continue to provide updates throughout the process and again must thank local residents and everyone impacted by the development for their patience and understanding.
