Winton Primary School praised in report

Posted on 5 Mar 2024

A PRIMARY school in Ardrossan has been praised for the brilliant ‘family environment’ it has created -  helping young people grow and learn.

Education Scotland carried out an inspection on Winton Primary in December 2023 and talked to parents/carers and children while working closely with the headteacher and staff.

The findings of the inspection have now been published and in it highlighted the ‘Winton family’ which has helped promote positive and respectful relationships throughout the school

Some of the other finding from the inspection include:

  • children enjoy school, behave well and engage positively in their learning
  • the whole staff team have developed inclusive learning environments that support children who require help with their learning
  • Staff develop their practice well through strong professional partnerships and collaboration as a team. This is improving children’s experiences.

Anne Anderson, Head Teacher of Ardrossan Academy and Winton Primary and Early Years, said: “We are delighted to have received such a positive report and I am particularly pleased for all the staff who work tirelessly every day.

“That the report recognises the family feel we have created at the school is testament to the hard work that goes into making it a warm and nurturing environment.

“A big thanks also goes to all our young people who are wonderful and make it such a great place for us all to come and work.

“Like any inspection, they have pinpointed areas where we can still improve and we will take these on board and aim to be an even better which will be part of our journey to our new campus.”

Councillor Shaun Macaulay, Cabinet member for Education, said: “A huge well done to all the staff for this excellent report. It is clear that they have developed a fantastic environment for the young people that is allowing them to really flourish.

“We are sure they will build on this inspection report and continue to go from strength to strength.”
