Request a public EV charge point
We welcome suggestions for new public EV charge point locations. To submit a request, please contact the EV Charging team at evcharging@north-ayrshire.gov.uk.
Your feedback helps us identify areas where demand for EV charging infrastructure may be increasing. Public demand is only one factor considered when assessing potential locations.
Other considerations include:
- existing parking arrangements
- availability of a suitable electricity supply
- alignment with local and regional policies
- proximity to local facilities such as town centres, leisure facilities, markets and tourist attractions
Ayrshire Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund (EVIF) Project
North Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and South Ayrshire Councils are working in partnership to deliver the EV charging infrastructure required to support the growing uptake of electric vehicles across Ayrshire.
Supported by the Transport Scotland and Scottish Futures Trust, the three local authorities have secured £2.8million from Transport Scotland's Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund (EVIF). This funding will support the installation of approximately 307 charge points across 270 locations through a concession contract arrangement. This investment will play an important role in supporting Scotland's transition to net zero transport and the wider move towards sustainable travel.
A regional EV Strategy has been developed to guide the future expansion of EV charging infrastructure across Ayrshire. The strategy helps ensure that charging provision meets increasing demand while supporting Scotland's national transport and climate objectives, including the planned phase-out of new petrol and diesel vehicles.
The strategy also addresses challenges such as ageing infrastructure, changing user requirements and evolving funding models. Through this work, Ayrshire is preparing for a cleaner, more sustainable transport future.
Work will continue throughout 2026 to secure a commercial delivery partner to support the long-term operation, maintenance and expansion of the Ayrshire EV charging network.
