Festive arrangements

Festive opening hours for Council Offices and Contact Centre.

These services will reopen as normal on Monday 5 January.

While we are closed, emergency calls (repairs, faults, etc) will be handled by our out of hours service on 01294 310000.

On the mainland and Cumbrae, domestic and commercial bins due for collection on the dates below will be collected two days later.

On Arran there will be no changes to domestic or commercial bin collection days over the Festive period.

The actual time of collection may vary during the Festive period, please put your bin out for 7am. If adverse weather affects your area we will return to collect your bin when possible. If your normal collection day does not fall on these days, it will be unaffected and remain the same.

Real Christmas tree collection

The mainland and Cumbrae waste teams will collect real Christmas trees (in 5 Feet or less sections) from beside your brown bin from 12 January 2026 over the next two week collection cycle. Check your collection calendar to see what dates we are collecting in your area.

On Arran real Christmas trees can be deposited at the Brodick Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Extended hours

On the mainland our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) will have extended opening hours of 9am to 5.30pm on:

• Monday 22 December
• Tuesday 23 December
• Saturday 27 December
• Sunday 28 December
• Monday 29 December
• Tuesday 30 December

The last available booking slot on these days will be at 5pm.

Limited hours and closure

Our mainland and Arran HWRCs will have limited hours or be closed on the dates below.

The last available booking slot on a 2pm closure day is 1.30pm.

The last collection of bulky waste in 2025, will be Friday 19 December 2025. This service will restart on Monday 12 January 2026.
