Free school meals, clothing grants

We provide free school meals and £132 (per child) for primary school children and £164 (per child) for secondary school children to help towards the costs of school footwear and clothing to children whose parents are on certain benefits.

Families receiving the Scottish Child Payment will now also be eligible for free school meals for children in primary 6 and primary 7, even if they don't receive any other qualifying benefits.

If you think you are eligible, you should make an application for income-based free school meals to make sure you are also considered for the school clothing grant and holiday school meal support. We will advise you on your eligibility and we will make sure that you receive the correct award.
