Working within the community

We are continuing to work closely with the local community to offer various benefits as the project progresses. Some of our community impact initiatives to date include:

  • A UK-first for sustainable construction methods: the project is making history as the first project in the UK to use a full battery-powered pile driving rig during construction. In collaboration with our supply chain partner Roger Bullivant Limited, we have deployed the Junttan PMx2e, a pioneering rig that produces zero local carbon emissions and operates with minimal noise - an Intelligent Solution that is demonstrative of our Responsible Business Plan in action. This innovation is part of a wider package of sustainable initiatives on site, including the use of repurposed steel as well as the deployment of electric forklifts. From the above, total carbon savings of 1,622 tonnes of CO2 have been formally verified by CarboniCa. Further information can be found on Morgan Sindall's website.

Project background: a new build, community campus on the West Coast of Scotland

What we did to achieve the Project Carbon Challenge:

  • used recycled tubular steel from oil rigs to form steel piles
  • eliminated the need for unnecessary virgin materials to be procured
  • enhanced design with circular economy at the forefront of our agenda

Project highlights:

  • 1622 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2) saved
  • supporting customers to decarbonise using CarboniCa
  • equivalent to 601 UK homes heated annually

Concerns or complaints

We will continue to try and minimise disruption to all local residents/neighbours. We have been asked to provide clarification on the communication protocols for the project. For clarity, the reporting of new day-to-day issues about the Campus construction activities (for example, noise, dust, deliveries and so on) should be made to Victoria Proven on 07773 592674.

If there are repeated enquiries about an issue to which she has already provided a response or there is an issue about a part of the wider Ardrossan Coastal Quarter site, then these should be directed to ardrossancampusconsultation@north-ayrshire.gov.uk as this will be the most appropriate avenue to get a resolution of the enquiry

Security

The site is monitored via CCTV camera towers which activate whenever anyone breaches the site perimeter. This is a 24/7 service, and the site is also monitored via mobile patrols. If you see anything suspicious or have any security concerns, please contact Victoria directly on 07773 592674.
