Programme update

Progress in this period includes:

  • continued operation under the Safe System of Works
  • removal of contaminated stockpiles from the southern part of the site
  • continuation of foul drainage installation
  • continued surface water drainage installation
  • continuation of swimming pool excavation and preparing piles for next stage of construction
  • commencement of foundations in teaching wing

Works to be undertaken in the next four weeks include:

  • continuation of foul drainage installation
  • continued surface water drainage installation
  • continuation of swimming pool excavation and preparing piles for next stage of construction

Coastal path closure

As advised in the last newsletter, the coastal path was temporarily closed on 7 January 2026. It was necessary to close the coastal path to allow the Safe System of Work to be followed when installing drainage adjacent to the path. The drainage works have taken a little longer than originally anticipated due to less than optimal ground conditions. Due to this, the path closure will need to be extended beyond the planned four weeks and is now expected to be completed by the end of February. Diversion signage is in place between Mariner’s View, Montgomerie Street and North Crescent Road.

Working within the community

We are continuing to work closely with the local community to offer various benefits as the project progresses. Some of our community impact initiatives in the period include:

  • Social Enterprise Scotland Festive Networking - continuing our close working relationship with Social Enterprise Scotland, we were delighted to be asked to speak at the Social Enterprise Scotland December Festive Networking event. Elizabeth Halliday represented Morgan Sindall, providing reflections on 'Why Buy Social Matters: Impact through Procurement'.
  • Kilwinning Academy S4 Construction Programme - in partnership with our supplier Greenham, the project team have sponsored Kilwinning Academy's S4 Construction Programme. Kilwinning Academy needed construction tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the pupils. We are delighted to have partnered with Greenham and have been able to donate and deliver approximately £1,500 of construction tools and PPE which will support pupils taking part in the Construction Programme. We look forward to hearing how the pupils progress throughout the programme.
  • Christmas Appeal - through the generosity of our colleagues, family, friends and Supply Chain Family, we have been able to donate approximately 125 gifts to children across Scotland who otherwise may have gone without this Christmas. This initiative supported children in Ardrossan and Kilmarnock (Women's Aid) and other organisations across Scotland. A huge thank you to everyone who supported.
  • Ardrossan Christmas Lunch - as a thanks for their hard work this year, the Morgan Sindall project team treated the project supply chain to a Christmas Lunch prior to the festive break. The meals were provided by local secondary school, St. Matthews Academy.

Who to contact to discuss any complaints or concerns

We will continue to try and minimise disruption to all local residents/neighbours, but should you experience any issues please contact Victoria Proven, senior site manager, on 07773 592674.

How can you help us?

We all know that building sites can be dangerous places if rules are not adhered to and it is very important that the site is not treated as a playground. Everyone should be aware of the danger if entering onto a building site without permission and we urge all parents make their children aware of this. We will of course be vigilant in this regard, and we will continue to monitor the perimeter and site at all times. The safety of your children and the public is of paramount importance to us and together we can ensure that this is not compromised in any way.

Considerate Constructors Scheme

Started in 1997, this important initiative operates a voluntary Code of Considerate Practice, with which participating construction sites and companies register. The Scheme is a non-profitmaking, independent organisation founded by the industry to improve its image.

Security

The site is monitored via CCTV camera towers which activate whenever anyone breaches the site perimeter. This is a 24/7 service, and the site is also monitored via mobile patrols. If you see anything suspicious or have any security concerns, then please contact Victoria directly on 07773 592674.
