Dear Neighbours
Works have recommenced on the deep excavations for the pool and drainage, and it is planned that the contaminated stockpiles on the southern part of the site will be removed before the Christmas break. We are pleased to report that mains power was provided to the site on 6 December which has resulted in the disconnection and removal of the temporary generators serving the site accommodation.
The site will be shut between 6pm on 19 December 2025 and 7.30am on 5 January 2026. There will be daily checks undertaken on the perimeter fencing during this period. If you need to report anything associated with the site during this period, we would ask you to contact the Council’s Out of Hours Service on 01294 310000 using the repairs option.
We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during the construction process.
Programme update
Progress in the period includes:
- Site set up and mobilisation for Safe System of Work
- Continuation of foundations and pile caps preparation
- Place concrete in foundations and pile caps.
Works to be undertaken in the next four weeks includes:
- Continuation of drainage installation
- Continuation of foundations and concrete slab preparations
- Continuation of swimming pool excavation and trim piles
Coastal path closure
It will be necessary to temporarily close the coastal path for around 4 weeks to allow the Safe System of Work to be followed when installing drainage adjacent to the path. The path will be closed from 7th January 2026 between Mariner’s View and North Crescent Road. A signed diversion will be in place via Montgomerie Street during this period.

Working within the Community
We are continuing to work closely with the local community to offer various benefits as the project progresses. Some of our community impact initiatives to date include:
- North Ayrshire Employment Fayre: The project team were delighted to participate in the North Ayrshire Employment Fayre on Friday 28 November in Saltcoats Town Hall. The fayre was supported by Ffion, Responsible Business Advisor, and George, Trainee Quantity Surveyor, who were highlighting opportunities available to people of all ages who are actively looking for employment.
- Supporting CEIS Ayrshire: The project team have supported CEIS Ayrshire by donating 12 laptops to this social enterprise. CEIS Ayrshire is a Scottish social enterprise founded in 2007. They support individuals, communities, and businesses through services that boost employability, workforce development, and community engagement. As a not-for-profit organisation, they offer recruitment and retention services, skills training, employer partnerships, capacity building, and community regeneration services.

How can you help us?
We all know that building sites can be dangerous places if rules are not adhered to and it is very important that the site is not treated as a playground. Everyone should be aware of the danger if entering onto a building site without permission and we urge all parents make their children aware of this. We will of course be vigilant in this regard, and we will continue to monitor the perimeter and site at all times. The safety of your children and the public is of paramount importance to us and together we can ensure that this is not compromised in any way.
Considerate Constructors Scheme
Started in 1997, this important initiative operates a voluntary Code of Considerate Practice, with which participating construction sites and companies register. The Scheme is a non-profitmaking, independent organisation founded by the industry to improve its image.
Security
The site is monitored via CCTV camera towers which activate whenever anyone breaches the site perimeter. This is a 24/7 service, and the site is also monitored via mobile patrols. If you see anything suspicious or have any security concerns, then please contact Victoria directly on 07773 592674.
