Child performance licence

The opportunity to perform, whether it be on stage or screen, can benefit children and young people.

There is, however, the potential for children to encounter risks as a result of their involvement in a performance, both in terms of their immediate safety and their longer term wellbeing.

To minimise risk Scottish local authorities operate a licensing system for children, below school leaving age, who wish to be involved in performances.

Regulations have been introduced for licensing the participation of children and young people in performances and specified sporting and modelling activities. Information and guidance can be found on the Scottish Government website.
