Importing calendars onto your device

There are a few options and methods of importing the downloaded calendar onto your devices. This is due to differences across calendar applications and devices. The support and guidance does not cover all models as the age of your device can stop it from updating. We would always advise to check for software updates on your devices.

Google Calendar

Option 1 – Google – Import

  1. Open Google Calendar in your web browser.
  2. Ensure you are logged into your account.
  3. Select the box marked ‘Select file from your computer’.
  4. Find the bin calendar file that you downloaded and select it.
  5. Select Import.

Your calendar entries should now be appearing in your Google Calendar – if not please try option two.

Option 2 – Google – From URL

Instead of following the above download instructions, right-click or tap and hold the import link (on the bin collections portal) or the button (on school term dates) to copy the link for this option.

  1. Open Google Calendar in your web browser.
  2. Again, you may need to log in if you aren’t already.
  3. Paste (press and hold on a mobile, then select paste) the .ics link provided into the box and select ‘Add calendar’.

Outlook calendar

Please note that Outlook does not allow you to add a calendar from their app on mobile devices, you must log in via your browser or the Outlook application on your PC or laptop device.

  1. Open your Outlook calendar.
  2. Click ‘Add Calendar’ from the Home tab.
  3. Click ‘From internet’.
  4. Paste the copied link and click OK.

Please note the Outlook application on PC or laptop may provide a notification saying “Sorry, something went wrong. You may want to try again.” If you wait for a few moments, the calendar should still appear under the ‘My Calendars’ list. You need to tick the box for it to show on your calendar.
