Japanese Knotweed

Japanese Knotweed is not harmful to human health, but will displace plants that are naturally present and threaten biodiversity.

It is listed in Part 2 of Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 as a non-native species.

Information about identifying the plant and methods of control can be found in our Japanese Knotweed leaflet (PDF, 581kb).
