Temporary road closure as part of Flood Protection Scheme works
Posted on 22 Apr 2021
Motorists are being asked to take note of upcoming roadworks as construction work continues on the Upper Garnock Valley Flood Protection Scheme.
Work will soon get under way in Dalry to construct the flood defence measures adjacent to the Mill Park housing estate. This involves the construction a 220m long flood defence wall in the verge between Beith Road and the estate.
Whilst the scheme will bring great benefits to the local community, in order for the works to progress a temporary closure of B714 Beith Road is required.
The closure will extend from the entrance to Mill Park to where the road crosses under the railway bridge.
The closure will commence 8am on Tuesday, May 4, and is scheduled to re-open at 7pm on August 31 or until such date as the works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
There will be no through route for vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians. Both the road and footpath are closed for this period to allow the construction of the flood prevention works and also to create an exclusion zone to enable the contractors McLaughlin & Harvey to implement a safe system of work that protects both site operatives and members of the public.
Diversion routes will be in place and these will be clearly signposted whilst local access will be maintained at all times.
North Ayrshire Council greatly appreciates the community’s patience and understanding during these works.
