Portal café reopened

Posted on 8 Sep 2020
Savour Café at the Portal has now reopened to the public.

The café has been closed since late March in response to national guidance to help slow down the spread of Covid-19.

As we enter the later stages of the route map out of lockdown, the Council has now reopened the café at the popular leisure centre.

Savour Café will operate Monday to Saturday, 8.30am – 3pm.

A number of measures have been introduced to ensure that the café can reopen safely including queue management, enhanced cleaning and appropriately distanced tables. Customers are urged to follow the physical distancing signage and make use of the sanitiser station upon arrival.

In order to support NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect service, customers will be asked to provide a name and contact number that will be shared with public health officers for the purposes of contact tracing.

Councillor Jim Montgomerie, Cabinet Member for Green New Deal and Sustainability, said: “We’re pleased to be in a position to re-open Savour Café at the Portal. It’s great that residents will be able to pop in for a coffee again, and centre users can grab a snack after exercise.

“However, we can’t stress enough how important it is that people continue to follow national guidance in relation to safety and hygiene when visiting the café to stop the virus from spreading.”
