One-way options not being considered following consultation

A PROPOSED one-way system in Yerton Brae will not be put in place following a consultation exercise with local residents.

North Ayrshire Council held a series of drop-in events at West Kilbride Library to gauge opinion on proposals to introduce a new one-way system on Yerton Brae.

Officers provided information and advice at the sessions, while attendees were asked to fill out a questionnaire which offered a range of options.

In summary 60% of respondents were not in favour of introducing a one-way system.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “The consultation exercise was extremely helpful to our Roads Service.  We received a number of useful comments and feedback and would like to thank everyone who took the time to take part in the exercise.”

 The options in the questionnaire were as follows…

 Option  A – Yerton Brae one way downhill from the north section of Overton Drive to the A78(T).

Option B – Yerton Brae one way downhill from the north section of Overton Drive to the A78(T).  Overton Drive also made one way.

Option C – Yerton Brae one way downhill from north section of Overton Drive to the A78(T).  Overton Drive and Corsehill Drive also one way.

Option D – Yerton Brae one way uphill from A78(T) to the north section of Overton Drive.

Option E – NOT IN SUPPORT OF ONE WAY SYSTEM.

 A  total of 192 responses to the questionnaire were received and the results are shown below:-

 Option A – 32

Option B – 12

Option C – 5

Option D – 27

Option E - 116
