North Ayrshire – giving small businesses a head start

Posted on 1 May 2019

North Ayrshire Council is set to launch an exciting new addition to its award-winning Team North Ayrshire business support offer.

The Circuit Enterprise Hub is a brand new incubation facility aimed at small, local businesses who aspire to grow and take on premises within a 12-month period.

Based at Quarry Road, Irvine, the Circuit will offer a 12-month subsidised office accommodation for up to 12 new and ambitious early-stage growth businesses.

Facilities included within the Hub are:

  • Desk with storage
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Reception facilities
  • Printing/scanning/photocopying
  • Mailing (incoming only)
  • Executive meeting space (small interview rooms (up to 4 people), large conference room with smart-screen (up to 30 people), flexible break-out space)

In addition, each successful applicant will be supported by an on-site adviser who will create a bespoke action plan and help each business realise their ambitions. Whether it be strategy, digital, training, HR, funding or sales skills, the Adviser will find the right solution and expertise that will allow you to grow your business.

Small businesses find it difficult to commit to taking on premises in their early stages. This exciting new initiative will enable entrepreneurs to accelerate their growth with first class facilities, opportunities to collaborate with other local entrepreneurs and expert business support on site.

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate their ambition and growth potential of their idea or business, and as spaces are limited we would in the first instance encourage candidates to come and visit the Hub or call 01294 449944 to discuss.

The Council realises the critical role played by small businesses in growing our local economy.

Karen Yeomans, Executive Director of Economy & Communities, said: “We are committed to supporting the growth of smaller businesses, and the new enterprise hub is a valuable addition to the extensive suite of business support we currently provide.

“With space for up to 12 businesses, members of the hub, will work with a dedicated Business Adviser, and our wider Team North Ayrshire partners, to create a growth action plan to help their firm to flourish.”

Team North Ayrshire – business experts from the public and private sector – have done some fantastic work helping local firms. They’ve helped create a really supportive and inclusive environment which puts us in a really strong position to take advantage of potential investments.

Since it was launched in November 2013, Team North Ayrshire’s innovative approach to business development and economic growth is paying off across North Ayrshire.

They have proved that by collaborating together and offering bespoke packages of support and expertise for business they have developed more in-depth relationships with companies which has helped them to grow and become more competitive.

Malcolm Simpson, Chair of Team North Ayrshire and Owner of SimpsInns, said: “The new incubation space at the Circuit is a welcome addition to our start-up and growing businesses, providing them with first-class assistance from the Team North Ayrshire partners to help their companies flourish.”
