Residents are being reminded to check their bin collection arrangements for the festive period.

That’s because the Christmas and New Year bank holidays will bring changes to some bin collection days across the area.

However, only those households whose bin collections normally fall on a Tuesday or Wednesday will be affected. For all other households, bin collections will remain on their usual day.

The Household Waste Recycling Centres at Irvine, Largs, Kilbirnie and Arran will be closed on 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January.

Residents are reminded that they don’t have to worry about transporting their real Christmas tree to a recycling centre. Real Christmas trees will be uplifted at the kerbside in January - check the online collection calendar for specific dates: www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/mybinday

Councillor Jim Montgomerie, Cabinet Member for Place, said: “We have done our best to keep disruption to a minimum this festive period.  But unfortunately, as Christmas and New Year falls mid-week this year, we have had to change a number of collections.  This means that for those whose collection day is usually a Tuesday or Wednesday, there will be temporary arrangements in place to collect your rubbish.

“We strongly advise all residents affected by these temporary measures to make a note of the changes and have their bins out for collection by 7am on their revised collection date.”
