Deadline extended for community groups to apply for local funding

Posted on 24 Jan 2023

The deadline has been extended for groups from across North Ayrshire to apply for funding that will help their organisations grow and prosper.

They now have until midnight on Sunday 5 February to bid on projects relating to two strands of participatory budgeting funding: Localities and Arts & Culture.

Local groups and organisations across the Garnock Valley, Irvine, Kilwinning, Three Towns, Arran and North Coast localities can apply – so don’t miss out!

North Ayrshire Council along with the Health and Social Care Partnership have provided a total of £109,777 funding as part of their ongoing community empowerment ambition to give local people a direct say in how money is spent.

People can find out more and apply for each funding strand by visiting the following online nomination forms:

The applications will be shortlisted by locality steering groups and a public vote will be held in early 2023 where communities can decide the projects that they would like to see funded.

Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Communities and Islands, said: “Participatory Budgeting is a fantastic way of empowering local groups and distributing money in a fair and equitable way.

“We are delighted to be opening up the process again and hope many more groups get involved. It could really make a difference to your group so please don’t miss out on this opportunity.”

NAC’s ‘Participatory Budgeting’ (PB) process has proved hugely successful since first being rolled out in 2016, with its aim to help community projects and organisations to make a positive difference in their community.

During the last round between January and March last year, 129 projects benefitted after being shortlisted by local steering groups.
