Community Groups Encouraged to Apply for Local Funding

Posted on 7 Dec 2022

Groups from across North Ayrshire are being invited to bid for funding that will help their organisations grow and prosper.

North Ayrshire Council along with the Health and Social Care Partnership have provided £105,777 funding as part of their ongoing community empowerment ambition to give local people a direct say in how money is spent.

The funds are for applications related to two strands of PB funding: Localities and Arts & Culture.

Local groups and organisations can apply from 6th December for their chance to access funding for community projects across the Garnock Valley, Irvine, Kilwinning, Three Towns, Arran and North Coast localities.

The applications will be shortlisted by locality steering groups and a public vote will be held in early 2023 where communities can decide the projects that they would like to see funded.

NAC’s ‘Participatory Budgeting’ (PB) process has proved hugely successful since first being rolled out in 2016, with its aim to help community projects and organisations to make a positive difference in their community.

During the last round in March this year, 133 projects benefitted after being shortlisted by local steering groups.

Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Communities and Islands, said: “Participatory Budgeting is a fantastic way of empowering local groups and distributing money in a fair and equitable way.

“We are delighted to be opening up the process again and hope many more groups get involved. It could really make a difference to your group so please don’t miss out on this opportunity.”

Applications close at midnight on the 31st January 2023.

People can find out more and apply for each strand on the following:

  • Localities (Up to £1000 funding per project):
  • Arts & Culture (Up to £400 funding per project):
