sportscotland works in partnership with all 32 local authorities to invest in and support the Active Schools Network.
The network consists of over 400 managers and coordinators dedicated to developing and supporting the delivery of quality sporting opportunities for children and young people.
Aims
Active Schools aims to provide more and higher quality opportunities to take part in sport and physical activity:
- before school
- during lunchtime
- after school
It also looks to develop effective pathways between schools and sports clubs in the local community.
Active Schools has worked with schools for over 20 years. They provide opportunities for children and young people to get and stay involved in sport. It will continue to make a significant contribution to a world class sporting system in Scotland.
Young Ambassadors
Young Ambassadors is a lottery funded programme to help develop young people as leaders in sport. This is one of the many programmes we lead on across North Ayrshire.
Volunteering
Sport Scotland is committed to developing and supporting a world class sporting system at all levels in Scotland. Central to this commitment is the attraction and development of people volunteering in sport.
