Libraries (COVID-19)

Our libraries and museums across North Ayrshire are to remain closed for now, due to latest restrictions.

Please continue to enjoy our online library services or take advantage of our digital cultural services.

Browse and Borrow

As part of a ‘Browse and Borrow’ pilot, four libraries will re-open to the public in the coming weeks – for the first time since libraries closed last March due to lockdown.

  • Kilbirnie – Mondays, 10am-1pm and 2-5pm (from 10 May)
  • Irvine – Tuesdays, 2-5pm, and Thursdays, 10am-1pm (from 11 May)
  • Stevenston – Mondays, 10am-1pm and 2-5pm (from 17 May)
  • Largs – Tuesdays, 2-5pm, and Thursdays, 10am-1pm (from 18 May)

We note there are significant equalities issues involved in the closure of our public North Ayrshire Libraries and other facilities. We considered these issues, and the lack of available time to consult, and took the view that, notwithstanding such impacts, closure was a proportionate and necessary step.
