Coronavirus (Covid-19) Business Support  

Large Self Catering, Exclusive Use Properties and Small Accommodation Providers Paying Council Tax Fund 

As part of the ongoing support for businesses, the Scottish Government has introduced a new package of sector specific support to help businesses closed or impacted by current Covid19 protective measures. North Ayrshire Council will arrange the administration and delivery of grant support payments. 

The following funds are available to hospitality businesses in North Ayrshire:

These additional funds do not impact on eligibility for, or any payments made, under the Strategic Framework Business Fund (SFBF). 

If you have received a letter inviting you to apply for grant funding download the relevant Grant Application Form below.

If you have more than one eligible property please complete an application form for each property.

Complete the relevant application form and return it to us by email to LSCEUBBFUND@north-ayrshire.gov.uk with all required supporting documents. Ensure you have clicked the declaration box.

Please ensure the documents you submit with your application are acceptable and legible. If you do not have an office scanner and are having trouble submitting clear supporting documents, we suggest you use a PDF scanner on your mobile phone. These are available via Apple and Google Play.

Large Self-Catering Grant

This fund is for larger self-catering properties in North Ayrshire that have been impacted by the single household restrictions during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The grant will make one-off payments of £2,000 to eligible applicants. 

Self-catering businesses are eligible if they have a self-catering unit which accommodates seven or more people (not including sofa beds and cots), and for which they pay non-domestic rates. 

The number of bed spaces will be linked to records held by the Rates Assessors. A property/unit must have been recorded as having seven or more bed spaces by the Assessor on 1st January 2021 to be eligible. 

The grants are for self-catering businesses in North Ayrshire only that have a property/unit which accommodates seven or more people (as recorded by the Rates Assessor on 1st January 2021) and for which they pay non-domestic rates. The business should be trading on 2nd November 2020.

Exclusive Use Properties Grant

Exclusive use businesses are eligible for one-off grants of £10,000 if they pay non-domestic rates and have been evaluated by the Scottish Assessors Association as an "exclusive use venue" providing overnight accommodation in their main building, in lodges at the property, or a combination of both. The business should be trading on 2nd November 2020. 

The grant is for Exclusive use businesses in North Ayrshire which have been adversely impacted by the coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions. 

To be eligible a business should not have received a one-off £25,000 payment from the Hospitality Sector Top-Up Payment or grant from the Scottish Wedding Industry Fund.

The Scottish Government has introduced a new package of sector specific support to help businesses closed or impacted by current protective measures announced by the Scottish Government.

Small Accommodation Providers paying Council Tax Fund (SAP-CTF) - Wave 1 and Wave 2

This fund is designed to support eligible B&Bs, guest houses and self-catering accommodation that are not on Non Domestic Rates, but pay Council Tax.

More specifically a grant of £2,000, payable every 4 weeks, will be available to eligible businesses, not on Non Domestic rates but paying council tax. These payments will be 4 weekly, backdated to the start of January 2021, to cover the Level 4 restrictions which apply from 26th Dec 2020 lockdown period for the duration of level 4 restrictions, and no later than 31 March 2021. This grant is not retrospectively backdated to 2nd November 2020.

The First Wave will support the cohort of Council Tax B&B and guest houses businesses that were funded through the 2020 B&B Hardship Fund. This scheme supported businesses, who are automatically considered to be in scope now. The Council has contact eligible businesses by email or letter to invite them to reconfirm their details and register for payment.

Wave Two will provide support to self-catering, B&Bs and guest houses that were supported through the 2020 Culture, Tourism, Hospitality Enterprise Hardship Grant, again these businesses are automatically considered to be in scope now.

In all waves the business should have been trading on 2nd November 2020.

The Council has been provided with a list of these eligible businesses and now invite you to reconfirm your details and register for payment.
