Report litter, fly tipping or fly posting

To report litter, fly tipping, or fly posting you'll need to tell us the location and give us a description of the litter:

Our teams remove litter, illegally dumped waste and antisocial debris from public areas. This includes littering, fly tipping and fly posting (including posters and signposts erected without permission). North Ayrshire Council doesn't remove waste from private land or gardens.

Working alongside Community Police Officers, we carry out regular patrols throughout North Ayrshire. These officers can issue fixed penalty fines.

Fixed penalties

  • fly tipping and fly posting - £200
  • litter - £80
  • dog fouling - £80

Failure to remove waste after a fixed penalty has been issued, may result in an additional charge for removal and disposal costs.

Failure to pay a fixed penalty can result in action by Sheriff Officers or the Procurator Fiscal. If you are prosecuted, you may face a jail term and £40,000 fine. Vehicles used to carry out the crime can be seized and destroyed.
