Orienteering is an easily learned skill of map reading and navigation. The aim is to find your way around the park using control points marked on an orienteering map. Decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time. It doesn't have to be a race and there are different levels of course, from short and easy to more difficult.

Its an adventure and a great way to explore the countryside.

Orienteering maps for Eglinton are available at the Visitor Centre for £1.60.

School Orienteering

Quote from British Orienteering web site:

"Many school children take part in orienteering as part of the National Curriculum and in school competitions, such as the British Schools Orienteering Championships. If you are a pupil interested in orienteering you will find lots of interesting information in the Ozone. If you are a teacher and would like help and information on introducing orienteering in to your school, please visit the School/Club links pages in the Developing Orienteering section".
